SOURCES OF OBSOLETE
FIREARMS PARTS
Some of the companies listed below have acquired obsolete factory firearm parts, either direct from the manufacturer, or as a subsequent owner. Most firearm manufacturers used to try to maintain a supply of parts for 10 years after the gun is discontinued. Sometimes this does not happen, for many reasons, as the foreign supplier going out of business, or tight money and there were no excess parts even available at the time of discontinuance of even late era guns.
Therefore, don't get upset if even these parts distributors can't supply ALL needed parts.
However, there are a few small companies specializing in making replacement obsolete parts, which will be listed below also. Positive identification is critical, both for the model, and the right nomenclature of the part. If possible, the exact part # is best, as most all parts distributors have their parts filed away, either by a good manual or on a computer system. If everyone uses the same references, namely, factory catalogs, and original factory part numbers, less mistakes happen. But also keep in mind that manufactures do make internal changes and you may have to identify by model & dash #, type 1, 2 or 3, possibly s/n, including the s/n prefix or the suffix. Sometimes even the original barrel length helps identification.
Most businesses will gladly exchange a defective part. But you can't really expect then to give you a refund if you are the one who ordered the wrong part, or you just wanted to use it for a sample so you could make your own using theirs as a pattern.

MOST GUN PARTS BUSINESSES, SELL CRITICAL PARTS WITH THE CONDITION THAT
THEY BE INSTALLED
BY A COMPETENT PERSON,
AND/OR CHECKED OUT BY A GUNSMITH BEFORE
THE FIREARM IS FIRED.
The best sources of current and obsolete part
identification are found in the two following companies catalogs. Their catalogs are factory reprints, many being almost impossible for
the average person to ever find anywhere else. These companies are not in business only to sell
catalogs,-
they also have a
very good parts selection and at times the only source of the obsolete
part.

Other possible sources of illustrated or exploded views of firearms may be found in DBI books, NRA, or if single shot rifles, the books by Frank de Hass. You probably will NOT be able to find many obsolete illustrated or exploded views of firearms on the web. One reason is that there may not have been an illustrated parts list, because many times the older gun companies simply laid all the parts on a table & took a picture of them. Most cases the parts had no relationship on the picture to where they actually went. Another reason for this may be the fact that the illustrations may be all copy-writed & the hassle of making arrangements with each author/publisher could prove exhausting.
Every effort is made to keep this page as current as possible, however if a company goes out of business for what-ever reason, (retire, sold out, bankruptcy, etc). we do not know unless someone notifies us as to our data here is wrong. Another thing, if you try to call a number listed & get a wrong or disconnected notice, there is the possibility that an area code change has happened.

Here, many people buy old guns at garage sales
& since it is illegal to sell across state lines without a FFL, they strip
them down & sell just the parts on e-Bay. It is not approved by
e-Bay to sell complete firearms or actions on this sales situation. Most
of these auctions are for from 3 to 7 days, with 5 days being the
normal. So you will have to keep looking every week. However, many
of these people do not really know what they have, so look at the pictures
well, ask the seller questions before the bid closes & make your own
