Special Made Firearm Parts
& CD of Firearm Parts Source Info

I used to own Wisner's, but have now semi-retired & will consider taking special orders for one of a kind obsolete gun parts that my son Jim, who is the current owner of Wisner's never intends to make.  Do not contact Wisner's Inc. about these, but me only, at The Machinist or the address indicated below.   Items NOT considered will include of any stocks or grips.

I will need the exact make, model & possibly the serial number of the firearm in question.  Many times I may also require the broken part or as much of it as possible.  I will try to perform this without you having to send us your gun because of current high shipping costs.

I still have a part time job, as I am helping my son out as a "Senior Technical Consultant" in my retirement, & suspect I may like to keep out of the wife's hair if the weather is too bad for fishing.

When contacting me, IF I ACCEPT THE JOB, I should be able to give some time line estimate at that time.  Bear in mind it could take a few months.  I may request you send me a digital photo of the gun & broken parts before I consider making any parts, as it is imperative that we are both thinking of the same gun & part / parts involved.

For about all of this type of work, there will need to be dimensions taken off another functioning gun of the same make, model & vintage, as there are NO FACTORY BLUEPRINTS available from any manufacturer.  This in itself can at times prove a major problem just to find a pattern.  I do have access to some sample guns yet & know a few collectors who may be willing to help at times.

Some parts simply will not be cost effective to make, especially stamped out sheet metal ones, or if there are numerous parts broken or missing off your gun.

Prices to make these parts made signally will be more than for parts that you will find that are being made by anyone who already has the tooling for, or make them in quantities of 50 to 500 at a time.  I do still have access to a hydraulic profiling tracer mill that may at times be faster in duplicating a single part off an existing part, than doing a CAD drawing, CNC code writing & then CNC'ing the part.  My shop rate is $40 per hour plus any special tooling or cutters. This will also include any CAD drawing time if required.  I may also require a deposit before any work begins.

If you are inquiring because you still have the part, but it is worn, or it's mating part is also worn, or you are guessing what is wrong, then this service is not for you.  You should consider taking it to a competent gunsmith, & have him weld it up, re-heat treat & refit these parts.

I will not knowingly agree to make obsolete parts for a unsafe firearm.  However since under most circumstances I do not have the gun & I only make the replacement parts, it is therefore recommended that, after you install these parts that you take it to a competent gunsmith familiar with this type of firearm for a safety & performance check.

I have drawn a 400 + page illustrated, dimensional, full size, obsolete gun parts book that is published by Brownells. The title is "Handbook of Hard-to-Find Gun Parts". It has 2901 individual dimensioned obsolete parts drawings. It is designed to help the gunsmith identify parts, or give them enough dimensions to repair or make a replacement part. These are available thru Brownells, or we will sell autographed copies of this Deluxe edition loose leaf binder for $54.95 postage paid.   I am currently working on updating this book with new pages, but this time it is CAD drawn instead of the old mechanical drawing way.

I also offer a 75 page, 4 part "Firearm Parts Source" booklet.  Section 1 has factory information, when the factory was in business, factory address & phone, etc.  Section 2 covers sources of obsolete parts, both factory & new manufactured.  Section 3 deals with gunsmith type information, part # identification, factory recalls, warranty info not available thru normal channels, and much valuable  information scavenged from many sources.  Section 4 covers factory recalls.   Price is $22.00 postage paid & is currently only available on a CD.   PAYMENT FOR BOTH THE ABOVE BOOKS SHOULD BE MADE TO LeeRoy Wisner.  As my bank account is not the same as Wisner's Inc, & I can not accept credit cards.  I can be reached by clicking HERE.
